MAY 18 - JUNE 10, 2007

  • DAILY ITALIAN CLASSES (Beginner or Intermediate)
  • MASTER CLASSES
  • DAILY PRIVATE VOICE LESSON
  • MASTER CLASSES WITH ITALIAN CONDUCTOR MARCO BALDERI
  • PRIVATE MUSICAL AND DRAMATIC COACHINGS
  • ENSEMBLE COACHINGS FOR THOSE IN AN ENSEMBLE
  • TWO CONCERTS AT THE END OF THE SEMINAR. EVERYONE PERFORMS.

Because our program is designed o maximize each participant's progress, we wanted to make sure that each singer gets either a private lesson or private coaching every day. There will be musical coachings, focusing on phrasing, diction and interpretation, as well as dramatic coachings to explore the techniques of successfully presenting your aria or ensemble. Additionally, to reinforce our concepts and also provide an opportunity to perform in front of others, we have daily Master Classes, in which 4-6 singers perform each time. The voice teachers rotate teaching the Master Classes, so that each student is exposed to each teacher.

One important feature of the 2005 AND 2006 Seminars , was the opportunity to work with Italian conductor Marco Balderi. (see Faculty page for bio) Maestro Balderi's musicality and artistry inspired everyone, while his exacting standards raised the singers' awareness of what professional standards really are. Maestro Balderi will be back for three Master Classes in May 2007.

There are two Italian Classes, usually in the morning, where only Italian is spoken. One is for beginners and the other one is for those who already have had some exposure to Italian.

Because performance is what it's all about, we have two public concerts at the end of the seminar. EVERYONE gets to perform.

See our Activities page for trips, culture etc.

ENSEMBLES FROM OPERAS AND ORATORIO

There will be ensembles from operas and oratorios organized for those those who express an interest in being part of one. EVERYONE IN AN ENSEMBLE NEEDS TO ARRIVE IN FLORENCE WITH THEIR PART COMPLETELY MEMORIZED, so that we can work on interpretation and staging. Coachings for ensembles will be in addition to the individual coachings for your solo repertoire.
